ABOUT ESPRIT

Esprit (ɛˈspriː) Language and Culture Centre was born out of a dream to not only provide quality language learning opportunities to the people of Solan but also to provide a space for exchange and discussion. The French word esprit can be translated as spirit, mind, psyche or sense. One can have an esprit d’aventure  or an esprit de découverte or an esprit d’initiative: a spirit (or sense, if you will) of adventure or discovery or initiative. The possibilities with this word are endless, as are the possibilities when you dive into the world of languages. We welcome you to discover this world with us and broaden your horizons.

We offer French and Hindi courses right now, go to course information  for more details. We are working on introducing English proficiency courses with focus on Language assessment exams like IELTS and TOEFL soon. Join Esprit on an exciting journey to learn, evolve, inspire.

FROM THE FOUNDER

Hello, my name is Stuti Benal and I love languages, travelling and discovering new cultures. This love began right here in Solan with the scholastic book fair in my school where I would inadvertently buy the highest pile of books (thanks mumma, for never saying no). Today, I have travelled to over 20 countries and taught 3 languages in 5 countries- from English in France, Scotland and England, and French in India to Hindi in the USA. Each experience has left me more enriched, not only on a professional level but also on a personal level. And all this was possible because I loved languages. I learnt French, for no reason other than it being easily accessible, and that opened door after door for me. I taught English in high schools in France, came back to India for my second master's and taught French at Alliance Francaise, went on to be a cultural ambassador and teach Hindi at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana and most recently taught English at the Universite de Franche Comte in France. I also spent a summer as the Anglophone mentor at a holiday camp for French teenagers in Scotland and England.

All through these years, I have discovered amazing things, lived in wonderful places, tasted delectable foods, had great experiences through and through, but what I treasure the most is the people I have encountered and the connections I've built. For a long time, I have had this calling to share these experiences with the people of my hometown, my objective is not only to set up a language school but also to provide a space of sharing and discovery for people of all ages here in Solan. We are starting with French classes but there's definitely more to come, with our passion and your enthusiasm we'll bring a piece of the world to you. See you soon at Esprit!
